Heather McGowan

Registered Massage Therapy

I graduated with honours from Trillium College in 2023 and am a Registered Massage Therapist with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, as well as a member of the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario. Since beginning as a therapist, I have been dedicated to helping clients reduce pain, improve mobility, and feel their best through thoughtful, therapeutic massage care.

My practice focuses on relieving tension and pain related to injuries, postural issues, chronic pain, and providing supportive care through pre- and postnatal massage. I combine Swedish massage techniques with myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and stretching to create treatments that are both therapeutic and restorative. Each session is tailored to your individual needs, with the goal of supporting healing, restoring balance, and improving overall well-being.

Massage therapy is a second career for me, following more than twenty years in the insurance industry. During that time, I experienced firsthand how beneficial massage therapy can be in managing the physical strain and stress that come with long hours at a desk. Those experiences inspired me to pursue this profession and help others feel stronger, more comfortable, and more supported in their daily lives.

What I enjoy most about my work is empowering clients to become strong advocates for their own health and well-being. Outside of my practice, I enjoy kayaking, camping, and listening to live music—activities that help me stay active, balanced, and connected to the outdoors.

What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy is a hands-on treatment that helps your body heal, move, and feel its best. Through a variety of techniques, Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) work with you to relieve pain, improve mobility, and support overall wellness. Massage therapy can help with many conditions, including headaches, arthritis, tendonitis, sports injuries, and everyday muscle and joint discomfort.

Why choose a Registered Massage Therapist?

In Ontario, RMTs are among the most highly trained professionals in their field. Their education includes in-depth studies in anatomy, physiology, pathology, kinesiology, and neuroanatomy. This strong foundation means your treatments are always safe, effective, and tailored to your needs.

Professional standards you can trust

RMTs are regulated healthcare professionals who follow a strict code of ethics and complete ongoing continuing education. They also bring the latest research into their practice, offering evidence-based treatments and practical self-care strategies. With an RMT, you can feel confident that you’re receiving skilled, compassionate care designed to help you recover, prevent injury, and maintain long-term health.
